Overview

We connected the motorsports program to the Army by discussing common elements of racing and the Army: Speed, Power, Teamwork, Technology.  To aid the drivers in messaging and to help them understand the Soldiers they represent we have them meet with Soldiers and give them an opportunity to see and use equipment used by Soldiers. Some examples include Tony Stewart and Tony Schumacher visiting Fort Knox, KY and Ryan Newman visting Fort Bragg, NC.  In addition, our sponsorship lead to an effort by Tony Stewart racing to raise money for wounded Soldiers through his Prelude to the Dream race.

Memorial Day 2009

NASCAR

The Army leverages the NASCAR program through activation of events using the Strength in Action Zone, speaking engagements with the driver and bringing influencers to the track to meet Army leaders and to hear hometown heroes speak about their Army experience.  For more details click here.

NHRA

The Army uses NHRA in similar ways as NASCAR but also includes an education component, the Youth and Education Services (YES) Program.  More details on the Army NHRA program can be found here.
